In an unconfirmed report Bro. Tim Bonney of Freemasonry Resources posted on Saturday, Aug. 12 that the Grand Lodge of Delaware has now recognized Prince Hall Masonry. We have not been able to independently confirm this report, but if true, this leaves only the southern states holding onto their racist heritage by not recognizing as Masons the Brethren of the mostly black Prince Hall lodges.
According to this map, provided by Bro. Paul Bessel, the Grand Lodges of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina still do not in any way recognize Prince Hall Masonry. Another ten states' Grand Lodges still have only limited recognition, and some states that recognized Prince Hall still do not allow visitation between lodges.

Bravo...
ReplyDeletegood to see you join us here in the 21st century!
Aha! But do the Prince Hall Masons recognize the Delaware Grand Lodge, I ask you?
ReplyDeleteirrelevant. as long as the option is there, is what counts
ReplyDeleteWhy is it irrelevant? Would it be irrelevant if the Prince Hall Masons recognized the Grand Lodge of Delaware but the Grand Lodge of Delaware did not recognize them?
ReplyDeleteI've always been curious about visiting a Prince Hall lodge. I think it's about time that everyone acknowledges each other
ReplyDeleteI wish all men who have taken an oath could be free to meet as brothers. I believe here in Louisiana such a move forward would act as a magnificent catalyst for the rest of the state and put Masonry back where it belongs at the vanguard of virtuous society. This is gulf between "prdominantly" black and white lodges and good masons hurts me deeply and if I change one thing about masonry it would be, while respecting all traditions, to erase the spectre of segregation from our order.
ReplyDeleteGod grant us the courage to do what we know is right.
I'm just a fellowcraft right now, however certian tradions have been changed by the F & AM so I feel in order to become one the should chave to conform to the Orignal ways and be as one... Either way when I make My MM any state any place any where I go as long as you can prove yourself to be a MM I will recognize you as one!
ReplyDeleteIn Delaware - The Grand Lodge of AF & AM signed a pact with the Prince Hall Grand Lodge recognizing each other. This was done publicly in the Delaware Grand Lodge. However, Masonic visitation is restricted to events selected by the Grand Masters and Masonic intercourse is still not allowed. We have a ways to go yet. But progress has been made. I can provide more info if needed.
ReplyDeleteTo what type events do they allow intervisitation, and why not unrestricted intervisitation?
ReplyDeleteHow much interaction has there been the past year in Delaware between mainstream and PHA Freemasons?

I believe that Texas MS and Prince Hall now have mutual recognition with restricted visitation. Indeed, even though at a snails pace; some progress is being made.
