AMC's 'The Prisoner' miniseries debuts Nov. 15

AMC's mini-series The Prisoner debuts Nov. 15-17, 2009. Based on Patrick McGoohan's British television series from the late 1960's, the new version stars Jim Caviezel as Six and Ian McKellen as Two.

According to the AMC website:
The Premise: A man, known as Six, finds himself inexplicably trapped in The Village with no memory of how he arrived. As he explores his environment, he discovers that his fellow inhabitants are identified by number instead of name, have no memory of any prior existence, and are under constant surveillance. Not knowing whom to trust, Six is driven by the need to discover the truth behind The Village, the reason for his being there, and most importantly — how he can escape.
The tagline for the new version is "You Only Think You Are Free."

  1. I don't understand what this has to do with Freemasonry. Can you enlighten me?

  2. I agree with most of the reviews of AMC's "The Prisoner." Ho and hum.

I haven't been so disappointed in a program or movie I'd looked forward to since "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" hit the big screen back in 2005. What a horrible butchering of an excellent book, radio play, and 1980's British television show.

AMC's "The Prisoner" borrowed a few images and episode titles from the original, and then did nothing with them. Nothing. The program also weakly ripped off concepts from 50-year old novels by Philip K. Dick and the 2003 movie "Holes."

The result was pablum for the mind.

Jim "Jesus" Caviezel deserves to be called by a number. He's certainly not "The One." He was instead someone's very bad casting decision.

AMC did not distinguish itself with this "re-visualization" of "The Prisoner." I'm not even going to save this show on my DVR.

Check out this essay on the original "The Prisoner" discussing the original show's creator and star, Patrick McGoohan.
