Dear Widow's Son,Theron Dunn was a prolific and often contentious Masonic writer, blogger and forum participant who passed away in May after a brief illness. His premature departure has left a void among those who agreed with him and those who disagreed with his intractable positions and beliefs. He is and will continue to be missed.
I received the following from the Worshipful Master of our Lodge. Is there a possibility of having it posted on your web sites? Thanks in advance....
Sincerely,
Manny Blanco, PM
Worshipful Brothers: The late Brother Theron Dunn's family are having difficulty finding the Insurance our Brother thought to exist. A fund has been set up to assist the family in funeral and other expenses in the coming months. I am asking that each of our Lodges ascertain if there is a donation that can be made to the following fund:
This fund was set up by Theron's brother, James, for the purpose:
Theron Dunn Memorial Fund
Washington Mutual Bank
Acct#0401-0000041531-6
All checks should be payable to "Barbara Dunn"
22882 Giant Fir Place
Canyon Lake, CA 92587
Thanks so much for consideration.
Magic Happens... if you do something!!!
Sincerely & Fraternally,
John Cover Spear, PM
Master of Moreno Valley Lodge 804
Royal Patron of Mission Bell Court 156, Order of the Amaranth
Grand Lodge Long Range Planning Committee Member

Could they set up a PayPal account? Some people would probably prefer this method of donation, and likely to canvas a larger populations of net-savvy Masons.
ReplyDeleteYou might want to check on this. It has been several months since Bro. Dunn was laid to rest. Perhaps their financial need is not as great as when this information was first brought to light then.
ReplyDeleteif theron spent as much time concentrating on his family and its security rather than chasing jeff peace around, maybe his things would have been in order!
ReplyDeletepriorities fella's.
make sure your family business is in order before becomming addicted to the internet and the never ending pursuit of "non recognised masons".
Family and vocation is supposed to come before masonry.
Let us all use this situation to reflect on what not to do.
let us all pray that the Dunn's, and all others in need, receive relief in their unfortunate situations.

Prayers are cheep... I hope if my family ever loses me someone does more than just pray for them.
ReplyDeleteHope is cheap. About the same price, in fact, as prayers (maybe less). I hope if you ever die people do something more for them than merely hoped someone else would take care of them.
ReplyDeleteBefore Brother Theron Dunn left us prematurely, he left a message in April regarding the Halcyon debacle (a term either side will likely agree to). The court case is in swing, and we will now see if the law thinks Halcyon or the GL of Ohio were in error.
ReplyDeleteTheron's message is here:

quote to show how to get to the court case:
"for the curious, it's all a matter of public record.

Click yes at the bottom
Under civil on the left, click by case
For year enter 08
For case number, enter 649002
Click the button at the top that says “ALL”
It's surprising that the case has not been reported here on The Burning Taper, afaik. I'm certain both sides are eager to see the outcome.

Brother, if I may use that term loosely.
Theron was absolutely broke 2 years before he died, he went to Susdi arabia for 18 months on a Contract, to provide for his family and put them on the right footing. He took little or nothing for himself. Just built as much finance as possible to put right the things that had gone wrong. I have never in all my years come accross a man who tried harder, if you can do the same then you are a man, a true Freemason my Brother.
I would never expect Jeff Peace to make such a nasty comment as you have just done here and I hope in time you will become ashamed of your remarks.
Perhaps you may consider, Theron's tag line, "Its not about me changing them, its about me changing me".
Niether Theron or his family would wish you to help in any way I am sure of that.
I hope if my family ever loses me someone does more than just pray for them.

In Brother Theron's case, much more was done for his family than prayers, though prayers and well-wishes are always welcome. Don't know WHO said the family was ONLY prayed for, and if people were informed they'd find out that much more was done.
