Masonic Quotes

A few quotes from famous Freemasons, on the subject of learning, education, and reading:

"The man who doesn't read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them. — Mark Twain, American writer and Freemason

"A man only learns in two ways, one by reading, and the other by association with smarter people." — Will Rogers, American humorist and Freemason

"Empty pockets never held anyone back. Only empty heads and empty hearts can do that." — Norman Vincent Peale, American minister and Freemason

"Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort."— Franklin D. Roosevelt, American President and Freemason

"If a man empties his purse into his head, no man can take it away from him. An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest." — Benjamin Franklin, American writer, humorist, ambassador, inventor and Freemason

The Mysteries Of Magic' by Eliphas Levi "What is more absurd and more impious than to attribute the name of Lucifer to the devil, that is, to personified evil. The intellectual Lucifer is the spirit of intelligence and love; it is the paraclete, it is the Holy Spirit, while the physical Lucifer is the great agent of universal magnetism." page 428.

'The Book Of Black Magic' by Arthur Edward Waite 33° "First Conjuration Addressed to Emperor Lucifer. Emperor Lucifer, Master and Prince of Rebellious Spirits, I adjure thee to leave thine abode, in what-ever quarter of the world it may be situated and come hither to communicate with me. I command and I conjure thee in the Name of the Mighty Living God, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, to appear without noise and without ...." page 244.

'The Secret Teaching Of All Ages' by Manly Palmer Hall 33° "I hereby promise the Great Spirit Lucifuge, Prince of Demons, that each year I will bring unto him a human soul to do with as as it may please him, and in return Lucifuge promises to bestow upon me the treasures of the earth and fulfil my every desire for the length of my natural life. If I fail to bring him each year the offering specified above, then my own soul shall be forfeit to him. Signed..... { Invocant signs pact with his own blood } " page CIV.

'The Lost Keys Of Freemasonry' by Manly Palmer Hall 33° "When The Mason learns that the Key to the warrior on the block is the proper application of the dynamo of living power, he has learned the Mystery of his Craft. The seething energies of Lucifer are in his hands and before he may step onward and upward, he must prove his ability to properly apply this energy." page 48.

"The Celestial Virgin which thus becomes the Mother of Gods and Devils at one and the same time; for she is the ever-loving beneficent Deity...but in antiquity and reality Lucifer or Luciferius is the name. Lucifer is divine and terrestial Light, 'the Holy Ghost' and "Satan' at one and the same time." page 539 (Volume?)

    Albert Pike 33°
"That which we must say to a crowd is - We worship a God, but it is the God that one adores without superstition. To you, Sovereign Grand Inspectors General, we say this, that you may repeat it to the Brethren of the 32nd, 31st, and 30th degrees - The Masonic Religion should be, by all of us initates of the high degrees, maintained in the purity of the Luciferian Doctrine. If Lucifer were not God, would Adonay whose deeds prove his cruelty, perdify and hatred of man, barbarism and repulsion for science, would Adonay and his priests, calumniate him? Yes, Lucifer is God, and unfortunately Adonay is also god. For the eternal law is that there is no light without shade, no beauty without ugliness, no white without black, for the absolute can only exist as two gods: darkness being necessary to the statue, and the brake to the locomotive. Thus, the doctrine of Satanism is a heresy; and the true and pure philosophical religion is the belief in Lucifer, the equal of Adonay; but Lucifer, God of Light and God of Good, is struggling for humanity against Adonay, the God of Darkness and Evil." Instructions to the 23 Supreme Councils of the World, July 14, 1889. Recorded by A.C. De La Rive in La Femme et l'Enfant dans la FrancMaconnerie Universelle on page 588

"Lucifer, the Light-bearer! Strange and mysterious name to give to the Spirit of Darkness! Lucifer, the son of the morning! Is it he who bears the Light, and with it's splendors intolerable blinds feeble, sensual or selfish Souls? Doubt it not!" Morals and Dogma page 321

As time goes on, people will realize who the REAL enemy is. The human race is asleep and it needs to awaken. If you really want to learn more, nevermind the red pill and eat the red apple and you will learn just how deep the rabbit hole goes.

  5. The word Lucifer was later corrupted by the early Christians who felt it necessary to discredit Greek Gnostic Philosophy. Lucifer originally meant "Light Bringer", he who illuminates. In fact many early Christians attributed Jesus to the Light Bringer, not Satan.
As for Satan being god of the Earth, no educated Christian could refute this. Satan is the Archetypical ruler of all material creation which is sinful and corrupted whereas the Christian god-head rules over the intangible spiritual qualities of the Universe.
For the future, if you are going to knock Freemasonry, do your research before judging the fraternity. Take your information from credible sources, not the "Online Baptist Dictionary" or other politically motivated organizations.
I cannot refute what you have written, Anonymous, in terms of the quotes, I agree with it. We just have two different interpretations regarding what the content really means.

  6. This is a hopefully useful reply to the first "anonymous" poster who mentions that "They also said this crap, too."

Concerning the following passage from Albert Pike:

    Albert Pike 33°
"That which we must say to a crowd is - We worship a God, but it is the God that one adores without superstition. The fact that you posted this "crap" in your list of "crap" implies that you are harboring some assumptions which are not clearly stated. I dont know what your assumptions are but I can guess to the general tone of them.

My guess is that your assumptions are realated to an observation that Masonry does not tote the "official" Christian line, whatever brand you (probably) subscribe to. You have also seemed to imply the assumption that Lucifer and Satan are the same personage in the Bible. Also I think you have written this with an unstated belief in certain ideas and doctrines of the Christian faith that you assumed the readers here share with you.Perhaps I am wrong but that is the tone I got.

Now first, Freemasonry IS NOT Christian in orgin or doctrine. It is open to men of all religions and masons take pride is having the freedom to conceive of their own ideas of God and support their brother's right to this also.

Second, Albert Pike was the head of the Scottish Rite which is an appendent body of the Blue Degrees. The unique philosophy of the Scottish Rite is not necessarily related to the philosophy of Freemasonry. They are not the same thing contrary to popular belief.

Third, Cabala plays a role in the philosophy of the Scottish Rite. What Albert Pike is saying here relates directly to the world view contained within that philosophy.

"Lucifer" and "Satan" are not the same being in the stories of the Bible. If you want further details, look it up. Lucifer means "light bringer" and in Isaiah
the term was used to poeticaly describe the babylonian king most likely.

What Pike is referring to is a Cabalistic concept that the Universe IS the manifestation of the One God (you and me included are part of God and NOT able to be seperated from it, ie. Hell) and that manifestation only occurs throught the dualistic polarization of forces. Therefore, the "world" is lorded over by the two opposite aspects of God called Lucifer and Adonai. Adonai is taken to be the god of the old testament and cabalistically is very similar to the feminine priciple in Cabala. The actions of the Lord towards his people are harsh and characteristic of unbalanced Geburah energy from the fifth Sephirah of the Tree of Life (also a Cabalistic concept). Lucifer here, which is practically synonymous with the concept of Christ, is the other polar end of the stick and through the reconcilliation and Equillibriation of these opposed aspects of the One Thing comes enlightenment. 7. I do find it quite offensive the views of some people, one should respect somebody believes, religion & franternity.
Viewing your response about The Grand Master, God & satan i say this. Do not blame the brotherwood cause they did not write the bible, dont blame the christian cause they still follow that old book, i say this, the catolics should be investigated. Please do your research before commenting, Catolics should show the world what is written on that old bible that they keep hidden to all of us.Is not the one you & i have at home, believe me is quite deferent,,,

  8. Sto:

You do know that AC de la Rive was the pen name of Leo Taxil, who admitted that the Pike quote was part of his hoax, right? The whole quote is a forgery. You also know that anti-Masons know it's a forgery the same as everyone else does, but they quote it anyway because it's so juicy that they just can't help themselves, and no fanatic every let something as silly as truth stop him from a good rant?

    THE LEO TAXIL HOAX

this should put the issue to rest as far as Pike is concerned.

  14. one of the hallmarks of ignorance is vilification of what is viewed as threatening and incomprehensible.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think a bigger hallmark of ignorance is the willingness to just go along with things, without questioning them. You could say that Jesus was a three foot, Asian, teacher, who liked to draw cars, it may sound crazy, but the point is that you're using your mind and expressing your opinion, no matter how outer space it may be.

Even though people's ideas can be crazy sometimes, I do not think that it is right to just write them off as nuts, or conspiracy theorists. We must allow our minds to open back up, and think outside the box called "life". Remember the truth is stranger than fiction.

  16. I hail and conceal. It is good to see brothers defending their beliefs. I come from a large family of freemasons. The ignorant hate us because they have not seen as we have seen. It does not matter. let them wallow in their ignorance. In a way it is bliss. we arent going anywhere. O and for the rest of you, your welcome for what we have already given you. You want to read a masonic document that displays our ideas. Read the constitution. Your welcome. even though you have soiled it.

  17. By the way. the way the 16 comments are presented renders them unintelligible. Like the first Manly P Hall quote ya might want to back up your cutter and paster man so that the message conveys the context. Manly p Hall and Albert Pike were great men and i would like you to respect our exalted brethren whether you agree or not.
