Hey, Mars! Duck!

The Super Bowl won't be the only thing worth watching about a month from now.

There's a chance that Mars, our neighbor to the, uh, er, out that way, may get clobbered with a giant asteroid on January 30, NASA announced recently.

Asteroid 2007 WD5, discovered last month between Earth and Mars, has a 1 in 75 (and fall-ing) chance of stirring up quite a bit of Red Dust. If it does make impact, it will probably leave a crater similar in size to Meteor Crater in Arizona. That's big. Really big. How big? According to the Wik, Meteor Crater "is about 1,200 m (4,000 ft) in diameter, some 170 m deep (570 ft), and is surrounded by a rim that rises 45 m (150 ft) above the surrounding plains. The center of the crater is filled with 210-240 m (700-800 ft) of rubble lying above crater bedrock." That's how big.

And, please... don't emigrate to the Red Planet to start a new lodge and then have your sons become Martian Masons, because, as you know, Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids.

  2. funny, i was thinking of the same finishing line from rocketman too.
has anything been said as to how and if this occurrence will have any effect over here on the third stone?
if there is a lodge on Mars, i would like to demit to it, if they'd have me.

  3. dang, tom beat me to it. Astronomy: the 7th and most violent of the liberal arts.

You know if you did try to make Master Masons on mars, there would be no one there to raise them...

  4. Well... don't we already have a lodge on the Moon?

  5. Yes, there is one on the moon, but it is irregular and clandestine because it holds no allegiance to any GL in particular. They allow ALL space Travellers in Lodge and exemplify Universal Brotherhood under the Starry Canopy of TGAOTU.
If one has been "raised" they may enter....

The meteor is aiming at the Lodge on Mars because they allowed Brother Peace in for a lecture and it now must be destroyed.

  6. Actually, I'm the one that is sending the asteroid to mars. You see, it's obstructing my view of Pluto, and that makes me very angry, very angry indeed.

  8. I'm certain the lodge on the moon welcome Darth Vader, even though he destroyed an entire planet and all of the Jedi. He was raised to the sublime degree, and apparently that's good enough on the moon.

  9. The Emperor would also be welcome on that lodge of the moon with Darth Vader. At some point, he was raised as well. Still, I'm not sure how destroying an entire planet displays a Masonic action, but as long as he used his freedom of conscience when murdering millions it must be okee-dokee with the lodge on the moon.

  10. Sorry Brothers, it took me a while to find the information I was looking for about our lodge on the Moon.

  11. Thanks brother! Glad to see a regular lodge on the moon. I think I might like to join, too.

  12. Bro. A.A.:

The definition of "conscience" implies that it is what impels one towards that which is right.

"Freedom of conscience" would mean that one is not restrained by another to follow one's sense of what is right or moral.

Are you saying that Vader was following what he thought was right or moral when he "murdered millions"?

  13. "Are you saying that Vader was following what he thought was right or moral when he "murdered millions"?"

Actually, yes. Vader was following what he thought was 'right' as he thought the empire and the dark side were 'right'. He obviously thought he was 'right' when he rebelled against his brother Jedi and killed them all. I think he was wrong, but I also think 'right' is extremely subjective.

  14. Let us thank Mars if it takes the hit for Earth.

  15. Good thing you're not a famous celebrity, Bro. A.A.

Actor Will Smith is apparently catching hell for making a statement about Adolf Hitler similar to yours about Darth Vader. See this article for details.

  16. The Vader/Emperor analogy is kind of moot seeing as Vader and the Emperor though having been raised where no longer "regular" by any definition. So the only reason I can see for them to visit such a good and right brotherly lodge as the one on the moon would be to wreak havoc and destruction on it. They would be welcome, but they would never attend.
I have knelt, but I will never kneel. See, kinda like that.
